What Causes Breathlessness And Cough After Taking Esbriet Tablets?
My husband is on esbriet 3 capsules 3 times a day. He has been on the drug for 10 months. He uses oxygen when he is home and to sleep. He does not use it outside of house. He is always short of breath and coughs. His scans have remained the same for several months. He is also on a sleep apnea machine. Now his fatigue is much worse. Should we lower his dosage of esbriet?

Dear this esbriet is used for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. These patients may present like shortness of breath, hypoxia with dry cough always.
This tablet itself won't cause dry cough.
It may have many side-effects. Treatment may required long duration.
Please follow up with pulmonary function tests with CT scans.
If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
