Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When i wake up in the mornings it is hard to take a deep breath. I m in the process of detoxing off of diet pepsi so i don t know if that has anything to do with it but the past week i have been dizzy and my stomach isn t feeling right. Then the past few mornings when i wake up it s hard to take a deep breath.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is very likely that this shortness of breath in the mornings might be related to anxiety attacks. It might cause shortness of breath that last few seconds to minutes, rarely it lasts longer than 30 minutes. You might also feel shaky during the episodes and the heart beat might be fast.
These are not dangerous, even though the patient feels really unwell. It is important to control your breathing so you do not breath very fast, be in a quiet place and try to relax. If no improvement or any worsening you will need to talk with your doctor and you can have some pills to help with them.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
