What Causes Breathing Difficulty During Stress Echo Test?

I had a stress echo test today but could only last on treadmill for four minutes. Had difficulty breathing at that point. Am I that out of shape? I am a 64 year old female with a right vocal cord paralysis. I weigh 135 pounds at 5 4 so I need to lose a few pounds right now, but I am concerned over my 4 minute exercise tolerance. Welcome to healthcaremagic.com. It is concerning that you only lasted four minutes, but then, that is why the test is done to give us an insight into your exercise capacity. In essence it means that your heart and lungs were note able to compensate for the demand that your body placed on them and that is why you were short of breath. I hope this helps. I am sure that the results and what the test means will be shared with you. Good luck.
