Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Last night I awoke being unable to breathe. My lungs were in spasm and I couldn t take a breath. It was as if I had been hit in the stomach and my breath left me. It took about 30-45 seconds for the spasm to release and I regained my ability to take a breath. Why would this happen while I m sleeping?
Pain in the chest while sleeping can be due to various reasons. You may have either gastrointestinal disorder involving stomach from where pain radiates to the chest.
You can also have problems in the heart or any respiratory problem.
It can be only accessed by having a proper case history followed by a clinical examination.
I suggest you that any of the above possibility can be there, therefore I suggest you get yourself checked by a physician so that it can be addressed as soon as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Soheel Hussain Zargar,
