What Causes Breathing Difficulty Along With Cough And Headache?

My boyfriend is 56 years old and about 2 weeks ago started having slight trouble breathing, a lot of coughing with headache, and today he told me that he is coughing up yellow and green mucus as well as when he blows his nose. He s a heavy smoker and drinker.

Probably he is suffering from lower resporatory tract infection(a/c bronchitis)..but we have to rule out bronchopneumonia if there is fever...Other possibility is COPD(c/c smoker)/ asthma Exacerbation if there was history of persistent cough and breathlessness..anyway u have to consult a doctor, get the blood test( total count and ESR) and chest x ray to rule out these possibilities..Better to start an antibiotic thrapy with bronchodilators to prevent the progress of the disease..
