What Causes Bouts Of Diarrhea Followed By Abdominal Spasms?

I was diagnosed with episodes of diverticulitus a few months ago. No medication other than over the counter Prisolec (sp?). I keep getting bouts of diarrhea followed by a twisting and knotting feeling in my stomach that comes and goes in very painful waves. Is this part of the diagnosis?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of bouts of diarrhea followed by abdominal spasms which seems to be due to infection by H. Pylori leading to gastroenteritis. It could be due to electrolyte imbalance in body. Need not to worry at all. I would suggest you to ensure you are giving adequate hydration, oral intake and replenishing water to avoid salt losses. Visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined. You should go for complete examination and start treatment after that. Intravenous fluid administration is also recommended. Don't panic. You should give oral rehydration solution. Give combination of antibiotic along with antihistamine medication.
