Hello,

Your brother who is mentally challenged is diabetic and is also suffering from chills. It was good that you covered him, he was probably suffering from hypothermia, a condition when the body temperature goes low. Mild hypothermia presents with symptoms like shivering and mental confusion, severe hypothermia may cause symptoms like increased mental confusion, muscle rigidity, unconsciousness, cardiac arrest, etc.

Patients who are diabetic, have thyroid conditions, certain medications may trigger such symptoms. Risk factors are old age, mental problems, alcohol and drug use, exhaustion, etc. You are suggested to get him clinically examined to rule out any developing CAD, coronary artery disease, or any other ailment that can cause such symptoms. His treatment will depend on the diagnosis made.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
