What Causes Blurred Vision Along With Headache And Pressure In The Eyes?

I am a 66 yr old female and years ago experienced flashing lights in my eyes. Was told I had vitreal detachment. This week I had lights again in my right eye which went away within an hr or so but now I have some blurred distance vision ... up close vision seems about the same. I do have cataracts which are not quite to surgery level. I have also had some general feelings of malaise this week, including headache, stiff neck and my eyes are tender to pressure.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would advise you to get a repeat retinal examination. Vitreal detachment will never cause blurring or flashing of lights . It will only cause floaters or spots in the vision. It could be that in the time span after your last retinal examination you developed a hole or tear in the Retina. It needs urgent barrage laser and I would advise you the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
