What Causes Blue Discoloration On Arm After An Injury?

Another kid squeezed my daughters wrist using his thumb to put pressure on her vein/artery/nerve and now her arm and part of her hand has been blue for 6 hours. I think he knew what he was doing. He has assaulted other kids at school before. Will this resolve itself or should I take her in to see a doctor?

Hi..

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have done through your question in detail and can very well understand your concern..

As per your complain blue discolouration of the arm and part of wrist after being squeezed over the vein by another kid seems to have caused traumatic injury to the vein leading to rupture of the vein and causing spillage of blood from the blood vessel and accumulation into soft tissues leading to bruising that is occurring as bluish discolouration..

It will not resolve overnight, rather can take 2 to 3 weeks and even more to resolve..
You should however consult a General Physician and get her evaluated to see for the level of severity of the symptoms..
She can be advised to apply Heparin gel as it help in faster resolution of bruising..
Doing alternate warm and cool compresses will also help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
