What Causes Bloody Stool While Suffering From Clostridium Difficile Infection?
My 27 year old son tested positive for c diff after 4 round of antibiotics over the period of 3 months. He didn t have any of the normal symptoms such as fever diahrria. He did one time about a month ago have blood in his stool. He was put on another antibiotic med.... something to treat the c diff. Today was his last of a 2 week script. This morning he had a bloody stool and has been having pain in his sides and sometimes his back. Before the c diff diagnosis he had a CT scan for kidney stones...no stones. How long do we wait to see if this will go away before going on to something else? Dr said he may have to have a colposcopy if he s not better in a week or so...
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You should not wait for the response. If the symptoms are due to C. difficile, then it should have reduced by now. I don't think that these symptoms are related to C. difficile infection. You should have a colonoscopy for proper diagnosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
