What Causes Blood In Urine While On Warfarin And Octreotide?

I have artificial heart valves (steel) and after a recent blood test there seems to be a few problems regarding my kidneys. I don t know yet exactly what the problem is but I have had blood in my urine for several years but it did nt seem to be a quantity to concern anyone. Now I wonder is there a connection especially as I am on Warfarin and monthly injections of Octreotide for bleeding in the small bowel.

Hi
Yes, you can have bleeding while on warfarin. Its important to maintain your INR value in a nomal range. If INR is normal, then warfarin is not the culprit. In that case, you need to be screened for renal malignancy (since you are having bleeding from several years) or any other renal disease. Go or ultrasound KUB first then.
Thank you, hope my answer helps you.
