What Causes Blood In Urine While On Cipro And Metronidazole?

I have blood in my urine and slight discomfort in my abdomen. I am taking 500mg Cipro bid and metronidazole bid for another issue last week. I had all the flu symptoms except cough and congestion so my MD prescribed these meds, thinking it might be diverticulitis rather than the flu. Tammy

Hi,

It may be high colored urine associated with antibiotic use. The metabolic byproducts of antibiotics can cause red colored urine and it will settle once we stop the medicines.

You can go for a urine routine to check whether it is blood or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain,
