What Causes Blood In Urine While UTI Test Is Negative?

I drink three wine glasses of red wine six nights a week. My urine test show blood in it, and I have frequent urges to urinate, but UTI was a negative for the urine test, do you think it is a problem with my kidneys? I am not drinking any alcohol because of the blood found in my urine.

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Blood in urine (hematuria) could occur normally when you took food like beets or blackberry, drugs like rifampin or pyrazinamide etc and it subsides automatically after the withdrawal of that.

If It has come once or twice without any reason or symptoms then there is no need of any investigation further and it will subsides by itself.

If it will come continuously then it can be due to urinary tract infection which you have already ruled out, stones
(kidney or bladder),prostate enlargement, acute urethral injury, kidney cyst or rarely tumor in kidney, ureter, bladder etc.

Do you have any symptoms since this hematuria?

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and Digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done under his guidance to confirm the diagnosis.

1) Routine urine test and urine culture
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis.
3) Serum PSA.
4) Endoscopic examination of bladder (Cystoscopy),

He may ask for CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis depending upon the findings of these tests.

Treatment is mainly depend upon the underlying cause or diagnosis but in the meanwhile take plenty of fluids.

You must consult urologist and get it diagnosed first.

Thanks and regards,
I find this answer helpful
