What Causes Blood In Urine And Stool?

I have bright red blood in both my urine and bowel movement for past two days. I also have some abdominal tenderness. My past 2 blood tests over a 6 month period have shown anemia. My doctor just ordered a CBC blood panel this past Thursday; I have no results as yet. Besides having a colonoscopy done (I have some history of polyps), what are the concerns for these symptoms. I am female and 69 years old. I am type 2 diabetic for past 3 years, but do not take insulin.

Hello,

These two problems seem not connected. There might be a different cause for both although rarely in some cases like fistula this may happen.

There can be many causes but the most common are urinary tract infection and kidney stones.

About fresh blood, in stools, it may be due to a polyp or simply piles. A lot will depend on the colonoscopy report. You can message me back with reports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
