What Causes Blood In Urine And Burning Sensation During Urination?

Hello my cousin is a 15 year old girl and she is peeing blood and she said it burns. She said she is on her period, but that it isn t her period because she had a tampon in and she went to take it out when she saw the blood thinking it was full but it had barely anything on it. So it is confirmed it is not her period and that she is really peeing blood and that it is burning. She just recently got a birth control transplant into her arm. I don t know if that had anything to do with it. But I m just trying to figure out what might be wrong with her. I hope someone could please help me and my cousin.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

No, the birth control transplant will not cause burning while peeing or blood in urine. It is possible she could have a urinary tract infection which can be treated with an antibiotic. But it is important to find out the definite cause. This could be something very serious. I urge you to take her to the Emergency Room immediately and get her tested.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Dr. Arnold Zedd
