What Causes Blood In Stool?

I am 47 yo male with diverticula. I have had 4 episodes of diverticulitus in last 7 years. A few days ago I had blood in my stool after being constipated a few days. No blood in stool since, 3 bowel movements. Should I be worried? I think the worst when something happens, example colon cancer

Blood in the stool is always a concern. Though it is frequently from hemorrhoids it is mandatory that you rechecked out to rule out a tumor . Colon cancer screening is best done by colonoscopy which usually is adequate to relieve your concerns for at least 5 years. If you've had a recent colonoscopy in the past year , it probably won't be necessary. the exam has the added benefit of checking your diverticula.
