What Causes Blood Discharge From The Nipples During 23rd Week Of Pregnancy?

I am 23 weeks and 2 days pregnant . I have nipple discharge from about 17 weeks. Now i hav noticed a slight presence of blood from the nipples along with the watery discharge. Slight blood discharge is only seen at a point of the edge of the nipples. The discharge from other points are watery clear. I have no pain or irritation. But i am worried.. is that a great problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The blood discharge from nipple with watery discharge indicates inflammation at the mammary ducts.

Though not serious, should be addressed to the treating gynecologist and get cured before the infection flare up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
General & Family Physician
