What Causes Blood Discharge From Mouth While On Plavix?

I[m a heart patient on blood thiner Plavix. This afternoon,I uneespectedly saw some blood coming from above my chin. I have had some blood in my mouth each morning for several months. My cardiologist had me reduce aspirin to one every two or three day. Is this bleeding which I stopped woth a compress and a bandaid a sign of any serious problem requiring an emergency visit to a doctor?

Hi,

Blood thinners can cause capillary bleeding from mouth/gums in few patients. As suggested by your cardiologist reducing the dose may help in stoppage of bleeding. External Ice compression, holding tea bag in your mouth can arrest the bleeding to an extent. If these don't work out it is better to consult your cardiologist for better management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
