What Causes Blood Clot In The Leg Along With Depression?

my fiance is 35. he had a blood clot in his leg in January and has been on Coumadin since. As a follow-up he was sent to a blood specialist. This Dr. thought he may have Polycythemia Vera. Although he tested negative for this disease, they have taken a pint of blood each week (for two weeks now). He is still experiencing symptoms. Is there some other illness that could be causing these symptoms? And is depression normal under these circumstances? He has become very depressed and I m worried. He does not see his Dr. until December?

Hello,

I am sorry for the unfortunate experiences you and your fiance are going through.

Yes, it is quite natural to get depressed if you are on medications for long and still experiencing the symptoms.

Does he sleep well? Usually, sleep medication can help in such a scenario, however, to be administered at the prescription of a local physician.

Secondly, as I understand he is negative for polycythemia vera, however, there are other causes as well, which can cause such symptoms, for that you need to undergo further tests such bone marrow biopsy, clotting factor assay, etc.

In order to mitigate the symptoms, it is very important to get to the cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
