What Causes Blisters On The Ankle Along With Redness And Swelling?
My 34 year old son has a red, swollen ankle. It appears as if he may have gotten bitten by something. There are also 2 blisters where the so-called bite marks might be. Went to Immediate Care tonight. Dr. was unsure but gave him clindomycin (oral) and a topical antibiotic. Dr. drew lines around the swelling/redness and said if they extended beyond the lines, do seek medical attention. Very painful. What do you think? I guess the blisters are what are really concerning me...
Blisters can form as a result of trauma to any particular area. There can be part of the body's response.
They would normally resolve as the infection or inflammation resolves.
He should not burst them but let them go down on their own. Bursting them would increase the chance of infection. The use of anti inflammatory pain killers would help with any discomfort that he may be experiencing eg ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen
I hope this helps
