My father dropped a large metal beam on his foot on concrete. Dr says it is not broken according to exray. The second day fluid filled blisters has formed over the bruise. The fluid filled sacs are skin colored. His foot is extremely swollen. What are the fluid filled sacs?
Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that your father dropped a large metal beam on his foot.He has no fracture as your doctors saying. But his foot is swollen and blisters has been formed over it .Probably he developing impending compartment syndrome. In this condition due to edema compartmental pressure in foot is increased leading to ischemia of tissues leading to blistering of skin of foot. These fluid filled sacs are blisters filled with serum and these are indicative of ischemia. Its treatment is elevation of foot on pillow, active toe movements are advised . Analgesic such as ibuprofen relieve pain. Antibiotics are given to prevent infection. Vitamin B and C promote healing. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
