What Causes Black And Sticky Stools While Taking Iron Tablets?
hi i am concerned about my sister who lives with me.she has cyrabel polsey and has been told that her iron level is 6.4,so she is on iron tablets....but what is worrying me is yes her stools are black,but the texture is tarry and really sticky.but she seems to be cheerful and chatty.

Certain iron preparations are made to release ferrous fumarate inside the intestines giving black, sticky stools.
Stool reverts back to normal once iron preparation intake is stopped.
