What Causes Bitter Taste In Mouth After Inhaling Plastic Fumes?
My brother placed a plastic take out container on the stove which was hot and melted a hole in the plastic container, melting the plastic on the stove. We quickly emptied the food into a dish thinking the rice, beans and pork where still able to eat. We both consumed the food. We have no symptoms of poisoning. After an hour I have a slight bitter taste in my mouth but no other symptoms. Are ther any first aid concerns we should be aware of in the next few hours.
You have accidently inhaled plastic fumes and have bitterness in the mouth. It may be due to irritation to the nasal mucosa and mucosa of the mouth. You should breath in some fresh air by going outdoors and gargle your throat with salt water 3 times a day for 5 days to flush out toxic effects.
The most common symptoms of inhaling plastic fumes are dizziness, confusion, and irritations of the throat, skin, and nose. Prolonged exposure to plastic smoke can cause headaches, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, aggravated asthma and blood in cough. Avoid inhaling plastic fumes, long time exposure may cause permanent damage to the lungs. Don't make a habit of inhaling carcinogenic fumes, plastic fumes are cancerous. Stay away from addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
