What Causes Bad Odour And Taste In Mouth?

Have horrible smell and taste in mouth I had dry sockets and treated with packing dentist gave me about 2 weeks ago I went too change the dressing but couldn t find it so I assumed it had fallen out while I was sleepjng so I rinsed the area and packed it with another piece of dressing now I m worried that the taste and smell are cause I didn t get the old dressing out and just packed on top.... I m not in pain just can t stand the taste

Can understand your concern..

As per your query if you have not got the dressing changed that was placed due to dry socket will definitely get infected and rotten and will be a cause for bad odour and foul taste in mouth.

Along with this it can lead to infection in the healing socket and can lead to recurrence of pain and further disrupt the healing process..

You do not have pain, as the medicament placed in the dressing has given you relief and sedative effect but as it has to be changed every alternate day but it is not changed for two weeks can have deleterious effects in overall oral health and is the cause of foul smell and infections.

You should immediately get it removed by the dentist and if there are signs of infection a short course of antibiotics is needed.

You should gargle with antimicrobial mouthwash to mask the bad odour and prevent infections.
