What Causes Bad Abdominal Cramps While On Norethisterone?

I have just started taking norethisterone 3 tiimes daily 5 days before my menses so that it will not come while I am away on holiday next week. However, I am having very bad cramps...just like menses cramps..its like the menses is about to come any time. I have taken the pills 2 days in a row already. Is this normal? I am 43 years old. I am 1.64m tall and weigh about 72 kg. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Cramps can occur as a result of taking the medication. It is possible that they would resolve with continued use of the medication but if the pain is severe or you are concerned then you should see your doctor for an assessment.

If the discomfort is minor, then you can consider continuing the medication and monitoring for now.

I hope this helps
