What Causes Back Pain Around The Right Kidney?

Back pain around the right kidney area.The only kidney symptom of the ten previously listed was itchy skin, which could be just dry skin.....Male, age 76,b/p 142/73,heart rate 65. Particularly painful getting into and out of bed, or straightening into a standing position after sitting....The pain goes right down to the base of the spine

It is unlikely related to the kidneys though it is in that area. This would cause symptoms related to the urinary tract such as change in the urine (color, appearance, odor, frequency of urination, pain on urination, urgency etc).

Overlying the kidneys are soft tissues and muscles. It is possible that inflammation/injury of the muscles in the area are responsible for your pain especially since it is worse with certain movements.

If you have no problem with anti inflammatory medications then you can try one to see if it helps eg naproxen, cataflam, ibuprofen
If there is no improvement or worsening then you should see your doctor for assessment.
