What Causes Appetite Loss And Raspy Voice In A Child?

my granddaughter, age 4 1/2 mos, is not eating but is hungry - every time the bottle nipple or sippy cup is put in her mouth, she pushes it away. her voice is also raspy. I m thinking her mouth/throat are hurting her. We have recently switched formulas( per pediatrician visit 5/25/17) from Gerber Smooth to Infamil Neutrogena (spelling?) because she has not gained enough weight and is always spitting up. She was born 1/20/17, 7 lbs, 9 oz. And was only 11.1 lbs at pediatrician visit. Now 12.1 lbs after adding avocado, prune juice, and the new formula to her diet. But yesterday and today not wanting to take bottle. Altho she does suck on pacifier. But she is clearly hungry, because she reaches for the bottle. But then pushes it away when put in her mouth. No sign of Thrush. Grace Harrison, 305 505 5968, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Possible that the child is not tuned up with the changed formula or it out of her taste bud. I would recommend to provide as much breast feed as possible.

Hope I have answered your query.
