What Causes Appearance Of Whiteness At The Site Of Tooth Extraction?
I had a question, I had one of my molars extracted on Thursday. I am sorry but not in severe pain, I am also still taking antibiotics to because of an infection prior to extraction.I noticed today the eextraction area no longer had the blood area but was a whitish color. Do I have dry socket? I am not in pain and no odor
As per your query after the extraction the blood clot is formed in the extraction socket which acts as foundation through which new cells and tissues starts forming leading to filling up of the extraction socket with the new tissue which slowly advances in growth and lead to formation of the normal anatomy of the underlying bone and overlying gums..
When the tissue starts forming the colour changes from red to pale to whitish depending upon the stage of healing..
The white thing in the extraction socket is the newly forming healing tissue and you need not to worry as if it is present healing will be progressive..
Continue with the medicines prescribed to you by your dentist and follow the post operative instructions properly for a faster and better healing..
Hope your query is solved..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
