What Causes Aphagia?

Occasionally, I have a hard time swallowing. Sometimes I need to vomit to get the food out of my throat. Last night this happened and I had some blood in my vomit. My family doctor wants to schedule a upper endoscopy. Should I just have the test done or maybe meet with a specialist first? I also have multi-focal motor neuropathy and get infusions every three weeks. Because of this, I have a port which is in my chest and goes into my neck. Will I have any problems with an endoscopy with a port in me?

Hi, the so called port in your body might be the Central Venous Line.
The MULTI FOCAL MOTOR NEUROPATHY ITSELF WITH DIFFICULTY IN SWALLOWING.Alarming sign is blood in vomitus. any patient with central venous line with haematemesis (blood in vomitus) has to be dealt by the concerned speciality . with info to your family physician, you meet gastro enterologist and vascular surgeon/ intensive care specialist who did central venous line.
Take care.
