Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr. Rynne, For the past 8 months I have been taking the antidepressant Zoloft (sertreline) 50 mg for anxiety/panic attacks. My doctor recently dropped my dosage down to 25 mg because I have experienced a decrease in anxiety. I am still curious as to what the side effects are of taking this drug and more importantly, if there are any long term effects? I have experienced a decrease in libido and am worried that the drug has affected my testosterone levels as I am an athlete. I am also afraid that the side effects of the drug will be permanent. If you could clear up some of the misconceptions I may have about this drug that would be great. My email address is YYYY@YYYY . Thank you, Sam
hi thanks for using HCM. Yes it is true that sertraline decreases the libido, but it is not a permanent side effects. As you stop the drug it will return back to normal in few days. it does not affect the testosterone level as such. Thanks
