I have a sister who is 52 and recently diagnosed with Diabetes, a very high A1C level, high cholesterol and high triglycdrides. She already was taking Toprol to get her heart rate down and also has been on blood pressure medicine for about 4 years. She took the recent health news really hard, but changed her diet immediately is now suffering from what seems like heavy anxiety with feelings of cold, flushing, jittery, mind racing, sometimes felling light headed, scared, once or twice almost paralyzed with fear. She was prescribed Lipitor, Zatylapram (spelling?), and occasionally takes a low dose of Xanax. She calls me day and night with these feelings. I went with her to see her cardiologist 2 days ago and he told her not to worry and changed a couple of her medicines, but these feelings have been ongoing and are not new this week. She can have 2 or 3 good days and then she has terrible days. She is a single mother, well educated, very successful in her career and has a great support system of family and friends. She sees her regular doctor on Monday, but feels as if that is too long to wait. What can we do?
