What Causes Ankle Swelling And Pain In The Calf Muscles?

My doctor diagnosed me with gout. I am a 57 year old overweight male. I have some ain and swelling of the ankles, but also a lot of pain in my calf muscles. Can gout cause this? I have been taking prednisone and indomethacin for 2 days, not much relief.

Hello,
Gout is a condition where crystals deposit in the joints. It is diagnosed by the doctor taking fluid out of the joint with a needle (aspiration) and checking that fluid under a special microscope. It usually does not cause muscle pains.
