What Causes An Upset Stomach After Cardioversion Surgery?

I had a cardioversion on Friday. I am experiencing some upset with my stomach. I am on Amiodarone for A-fib. Would it hurt for me to take Malox for the problem. It is 2 1/2 hours after I took my meds. I did not have an antacid listed when I gave my meds to the doctor. But I have taken Malox before.

Hi,

I would explain that it is safe to take Malox in your clinical situation.

Your upset stomach could be related to the blood thinners, which are known to trigger gastritis and acid reflux.

If the problem persists, I would recommend performing a fibrogastroscopy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
