What Causes An Indentation In The Head After An Injury?
I was hit in the the head with a vacuum yesterday. The vacuum was up above me 3 stairs up and it fell and hit me in the top right corner of my head. I did not lose consciousness, it hurt really bad, did not break the skin but I immediately felt a indentation in my skull, but then it swelled up until today. Now the swelling is down and I have a indentation about the size of a nickel. The scalp is really squishy where the indentation is.
Hello there. That must have been one bad injury. Good to know you are recovering. What you are feeling is an hematoma that is resolving. It will take about 3,wks to completely settle. Use an ice pack as often as you can to help the clot to settle soon. Regarding the skull its possible that you have noticed the contour now which is in fact the normal shape. It could be due to a fracture too. To know the difference if its a natural shape or something as a result of the injury you need to image the area with a CT of the skull and brain. That will alleviate your anxiety to a great extent. Wishing you health. Watch out and be careful next time. Take care.
