What Causes An Episode Of Flashing Light In Right Eye Post A Head Injury?

Hello. A few weeks ago on June 12th, I was hit pretty hard by a foul softball on the left top side of my head. It definitely hurt and the place where it hit immediately had a goose egg. I did have a mild headache for a while and the place where it hit was tender but the swelling went down pretty quickly. Now after all this time, late yesterday afternoon I started experiencing a flashing light in the upper right corner of my right eye. Is this a concern, or will it eventually go away? Should I contact my eye physician?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of flashing light in the right eye can be related to a retinal tear or detachment. I suggest to see an eye Physician for an examination and specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
