What Causes An Altered Sense Of Smell?

Today I heated up some leftovers in a plastic container for too long and it slightly melted (just got a little soft).. when I started eating the food I noticed that it left a funny taste in my mouth. Now 8 hours later the taste is still there. Should I be worried? Can I get sick?

Since the plastic has released melted the chemicals they get attached to the taste buds and will take its own time.
Yes, it is better to consult a Doctor as actual examination is always a better choice to get a clear picture that there is no other effects on stomach and intestines as you have consumed the foods also.
