My dear friend, the description you have given about your friend's wife can be disorder of her personality more likely borderline personality. But it can also be some manipulative behaviour or childish like behaviour.more detail history is required to establish a diagnosis.but more essential is to treat her or else it may progress and hamper their relationship. Advise them to visit a psychiatrist.
