Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What are reasons that my upper colon would become impacted? I have regular bowel movements and I am very active. I start with pain that radiates around my bra strap area and then ugh the watery bowel movements that come with no warning. My gallbladder tested as well as celiac ?
Sudden watery bowel movements are likely to be infective (virus, bacteria, parasite) or dysentery or lactose intolerance or irritable bowel syndrome etc but it needs further evaluation by various medical tests.
Your stool impaction could be due to hard stool since you have regular bowel movements and active physically.
You may go for routine blood count, electrolytes and stool examination with ultrasound abdomen and upper gastrointestinal tract endoscopy (if required) as you have already done colonoscopy.
Treatment is mainly depend on the underlying cause but you may require antibiotics(ofloxacin with metronidazole) if infective, prebiotics and probiotics, antispasmodics, antacids, antiinflammatories etc.
You consult your gastroenterologist who will start treatment after carefully inspecting your reports.
