my 9 year old son has been experiencing lots of pain in his lower right abdomen 2 doctors believe early stages of appendicitis and black bowel movements at emergency and stayed there for 14 hours they checked his blood white cell count is good ,they did an ultra sound to see if the appendix was enlarged they could not find his appendix? 10 min prior to the ultra sound they gave him morphine for pain could this have caused them to not find his appendix he is still in pain and its1 week now !The third doctor at emerg told us she didn't want to send him for ct scan because of radiation? i'm so frustrated we were sent home to monitor him and for him to take it easy PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO? thanks
There is no such thing as an early or late stage in appendicitis. Either one has appendicitis or one does not. You've not mentioned whether he's been tested/treated for any kind of colitis or not. And if not, I'd recommend you to get him tested for the same. Also get tests done for worm infection and occult blood in his stool. And no, I dont think the reason for not finding the appendix could be Morphine. Meanwhile, if stools are hard you can give him laxatives.
