What Causes Abdominal Pain While Suffering From A Uterine Fibroid?
Hi. I ve been dealing with abdominal pain for the last month and I am trying to figure out what is happening. I was diagnosed with a large fibroid (right side) and an enlarged uterus in December. Since then I have been taking birth control to lessen the bleeding issues I was having. In the last month I have developed abdominal pain and bloating/pressue and I don t know what it is related to. This sort of pain and bloating/pressure has never happened before. The bloating is not constant, but comes and goes. The pain does the same. It started generally in the area of the fibroid. It is a stabbing sort of pain and I was worried about appendicitis. Then the pain started on my left side as well in two places. It started lower above my hip joint and still aches there. There is also a stabbing pain on my left/front side below my rib cage. Two weeks ago in that same area I had a sharp spasm which I associated with a muscle cramp that got better with stretching. I have an appointment next week with a new gynecologist to go over treatment options with my fibroid. I thought some of the symptoms could be associated with the fibroid, but I don t see how they all could. I am wondering if I should wait until my appointment next week to bring all these symptoms up, or should I see a doctor sooner. I am not sure what sort of doctor to see.

What Causes Abdominal Pain While Suffering From A Uterine Fibroid?
Hello, You can take analgesics like Mefenamic Acid for pain relief. It is due to the fibroid. If symptoms persist better to consult a gynaecologist and get evaluated. In severe cases, surgical removal may be required. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
