General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Severe abdominal pain is due to colic and it can be biliary colic or renal colic; these are the common reasons.
Symptoms can be controlled with antispasmodic drug like Dicyclomine and others. But the condition has to be brought to investigations, like imaging studies, it is not the gas, but colic stands for smooth muscle spasm.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
