What Causes Abdominal Pain After Appendix Removal?

Hi I had my appendix removed 5 days ago, open surgery, (home day after) since leaving hospital I have only taken paracetamol and wasn t given any antibiotics to take home. I m only experiencing mild pain, eating normal and all bodily functions are back to normal. As we re having a family get together in my home I was just wondering if I would be allowed a glass of wine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Some advices that I can give to you are :
-For the first day have clear fluids, like apple juice, ginger ale, clear tea and broth.
-The next day you can slowly go back to eating your usual meals.
If you are vomiting or feel nauseous you can
take anti-nausea medication, such as Gravol
Then you can slowly return to eating your usual meals.
-You should not abuse with alcohol.
-Drink about 3 to 5 glasses of water a day (each glass should be 8 ounces).
- Eat food that is high in fibre such as fruit, vegetables
- If you have not had a bowel movement after 3 days, take Milk of Magnesia as directed on the bottle.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
