Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Abdominal Discomfort After Eating Spicy Food In An Elderly Person?
My 86 year old mothed had what seems to be her worse experience of acid reflux 13 hours ago after eating some food that was spcier than normal for dinner. She didn t sleep much last night. It is now 2pm the next afternoon and she still feels discomfort. Is this normal? At what point should she go into emergency care?
It is not normal, so she may be suffering from severe pain overall through the night so she may need immediate medical treatment. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Syrup Mucaine gel two teaspoons twice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat her accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
