Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am writing about my son-in-law who is 42 years old. He woke up w/severe abdominal cramps, began tensing when it would cramp, started having muscle spasms & lost dexterity & ability to grip in his right hand. He took a muscle relaxant which took the pain away & he regained dexterity. Muscle relaxant has now worn off & he s still pain free & not cramping but his entire right side is numb & he has no control over his arm or leg. Could it be a stroke??
Muscle spasm and loss of dexterity can be due to myopathy.
I suggest you consult your rheumatologist/physician for clinical assessment and relevant investigations. In the meanwhile, you may take painkillers to relieve the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shailja Puri,
