What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Bleeding During Defecation?

Hi I am 50 female. I have issues with internal and external hemorrhoids. I have bleeding during and after bowel movements and gas. This has been an ongoing issue for a few years. About a year ago I had one banded. But still bleeding. Following a high fiber diet also. Recently I am having pain and swelling in the hemorrhoids , more than normal. I have recently noticed the area between my anus and vagina seems to have a lump internally. I have had some odd pain there as well. About 7 years ago I had a deviated septum surgery and as awoke from surgery I had excruciating pain in that area for about 5 minutes then it went away. I have colonoscopy scheduled but I am now wondering if it is my hemorrhoids or the perineum area. What kind of doctor do you see for perineum?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Hemorrhoids (internal and external) are often associated with bleeding and pain.

The lump you feel in the perineum could be due to protuded internal hemorrhoids.

The doctor who will carry out the colonoscopy is usually a proctologist. He/she will take care of this lump too. If he/she will refer to gynecologist if the lump is not from your anal area but from your genitals.

You should report to him/her all your current health problems.

Hope this helps.
