What Causes Abdominal Bloating After Taking Collagen Peptides?

I took collagen peptides for about a week and a half. It caused terrible bloating and weight gain. I m not sure if the weight gain is water retention. I kept my normal workaout routine of four days a week and ate the same number of calories. I stopped taking the collagen three days ago. How long before the bloat goes away? Is there anything I can do to expidite the bloat reduction?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is due to gastritis and gastric irritation.

Nothing much to worry and you can take antacids like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
