What Causes Abdominal Bloating After A Cholecystectomy?

Hi, I had a cholecystectomy earlier today and am taking Narco. I am feeling very bloated after eating or drinking. I hadn t been urinating much at all and continued to try and force liquids until I vomited when I felt much better. I drank a glass of water and then was able to urinate. Now I m starting to feel bloated and full again and am wondering if this is due to the Norco or the surgery. Should I call my doctor and ask for a different narcotic? Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Bloating and dyspeptic symptoms are quite common after abdominal surgery. It is due to the action of anaesthetic drugs and will settle by itself.

As of now, you can take antacids like pantoprazole for symptomatic relief. You can continue Narco.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
