What Causes A Yellow Bump On The Upper Eyelid?

hi I have a small yellowish bump on the ridge of my upper right eyelid. It seems to be attached, as I have used eye drops and tried to detach it from my eye. I m not sure if this could be a sty or just a random piece of debris, because it has been my eye for approximately 4 hours. I irritates my eye when I blink, look up and close my eyes. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is caused by fat deposit over the eye and it is called xanthelasma. People with high cholesterol and lipids levels have more predisposition to create them.

The use of chlorinated acetic, Monochloroacetic acid, dichloroacetic acid, and trichloroacetic acid have been used with good result. They are found to dissolve lipids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
