What causes a sudden loud cracking noise in the knee while jumping?

Knee popped REALLY loudly during jumping jacks and while my hip and ankle no longer hurt the knee does if it moves even slightly out of normal gait range, or when I lift that leg from a seated position. If I don t move it doesn t hurt. Take it easy and do ROM?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It could be due to a trapped foreign body or locked knee.

Consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

An MRI scan is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
