What Causes A Strange Tingling Sensation In The Abdomen?

Hello, My boyfriend has a strange tingling sensation in his left abdomen (stomach area). Is this something we should be concerned about? We sat at the movies for about 2.5 hours got home and now he s comaining about it. Could sitting so long be the cause of this?
